Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs
Each year, this department provides funding to help address Indigenous housing disadvantage through the Aboriginal Rental Housing Program (ARHP), which is administered by FaCS under the Commonwealth State Housing Agreement. FaCS has also enhanced its capacity to improve housing and infrastructure for the Aboriginal communities through the Community Housing and Infrastructure Program.

Building a Better Future: Indigenous Housing to 2010
This policy document was developed by Commonwealth, State and Territory housing ministers who recognise that indigenous housing is a major national issue. It endorses a policy of "safe, healthy and sustainable housing for indigenous Australians" as a priority by all states.

NSW Department of Housing
The policy document for Aboriginal People and Housing Assistance states that the Department will:

• Provide public housing and housing related services which are appropriate to the needs of Aboriginal people in NSW
• Make sure Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders receive culturally appropriate information that will help them make an informed choice about their housing options
• Manage and maintain Aboriginal Housing Office properties on behalf of the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO).

It also provides information on the entitlements of Indigenous tenants.
